BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Abbasali
Raz is working as an associated professor in Malaria and Vector Research Group
(MVRG), Pasteur Institute of Iran since 2013. He received a B.Sc. degree in
Laboratory sciences from Iran University of Medical sciences in 2002 and a
M.Sc. degree in Medical Biotechnology from Tarbiat Modarres University (TMU) in
2006.He completed his Ph.D. degree in Medical Biotechnology from Pasteur
Institute of Iran (PII) in 2013. He is working on vector-borne diseases (VBDs)
and with the focus on vectors.
Research
Interest:
1)
Paratransgenesis technique: He is working on identification of the symbiont
microorganisms with the vectors (especially bacteria) and genetic manipulation
of the symbiont microorganisms for creating a robust paratransgenesis tool.
2)
Vector-based Transmission-Blocking vaccines (TBVs): Finding the critical
molecules which are involved in pathogen development in the vectors
3)
Identification and molecular characterization of the insect proteins with
biomedical applications.
Moreover, he
is teaching the bioinformatics (Genomics databases, modeling, primer designing
and population genetic analysis), molecular biology, and genetic engineering.
